Australian Teachers Visit Indonesia for Cultural Immersion and Professional Learning

Australian teachers from the Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program spent a week in Indonesia in September 2024 as part of the Australian-Indonesia Institute Immersion Program. The program was designed to build intercultural understanding, strengthen school partnerships, and support Indonesian language and culture into Australian classrooms.

A key feature of the cultural immersion in Jakarta was a visit to Carbon Ethics, where tteachers learned about climate education and the importance of mangroves in Indonesia’s fight against climate change.

During their five-day stay at their partner schools in Indonesia, the Australian teachers participated in team teaching, facilitated professional learning, and collaborated on partnership plans with their Indonesian partners. These exchanges further built intercultural understanding and provided valuable opportunities for teachers to share best practices.

This immersive experience not only enriched the educators’ professional development but also strengthened the existing partnerships between Australian and Indonesian schools.
