Singkawang Delegation Visits Australia to Celebrate Australian – Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnership
4th July 2024, Asialink and the Asia Education Foundation (AEF) hosted a delegation from Singkawang, Indonesia, to celebrate a nine-year school partnership with Camden Haven High School in New South Wales. The delegation included the Acting Mayor of Singkawang, the Principal and a BRIDGE educator from SMP Negeri 3 Singkawang, and a BRIDGE educator from SMP Negeri 16 Singkawang.
Partnership Highlights:
• 2015: Partnership began
• 2017: Camden Haven students visited SMPN 16 Singkawang
• 2020: Partnership received a BRIDGE Lighthouse grant
• 2022: Camden Haven teachers led a robotics workshop in Singkawang
During their visit to Asia Education Foundation, Lisa Hayman, Director Partnerships, AEF, highlighted the importance of the BRIDGE program in building connections and promoting intercultural understanding. Martine Letts spoke about Asialink’s history and the crucial role of Indonesian educators in Australia-Indonesia relations.
The 2024 Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program is funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Australia-Indonesia Institute and is run by the Asia Education Foundation at Asialink, University of Melbourne.
