Cultivating Curiosity: ABC Gardening visits Indonesian BRIDGE School
In November 2023, SD Ar Ridha Al Salaam (ARAS) hosted Australian landscape architect Costa Georgiadis and TV presenter Tammy Huynh from ABC Gardening. This visit marked a significant occasion for the school community, which has been actively involved in maintaining its Australian Garden since 2018. This garden, a collaborative effort with their partner school, Beechworth Primary School in Victoria, Australia, has become a cornerstone of the school's educational and environmental initiatives.
Gardening is a gender-neutral hobby that allows people of all ages to connect with nature. It offers a fantastic opportunity for children to engage in hands-on learning, express their creativity, and contribute to a greener, more sustainable environment. At ARAS, the Australian Garden has been a living classroom where students, teachers, and the school community come together to learn and grow.
During their visit, Costa Georgiadis and Tammy Huynh shared their extensive knowledge and passion for gardening with the students. They emphasized the importance of sustainable practices and the benefits of connecting with nature. The session led to an engaging discussion, sparking a renewed interest in gardening among the students.
This visit has left a lasting impact on the ARAS community, inspiring students to continue their gardening journey with enthusiasm and a renewed sense of purpose. The shared experiences and knowledge have further strengthened the school's commitment to environmental education and sustainability. It also underscores the significance of gardening as an educational tool and its role in fostering global connections and environmental awareness. The Australian Garden at ARAS stands as a vibrant example of what can be achieved through international collaboration and a shared love for nature.
